What is an electric bike?

An electric bike, or e-bike, is a bicycle equipped with an electric motor to assist with pedaling. It combines human power with electric power to provide a more effortless riding experience.

How does an electric bike work?

An electric bike has a battery-powered motor that provides assistance when you pedal. Our Bikes offer assistance when pedaling based on your chosen power setting. It can also run only on the motor by engaging the throttle.

Do I need a license to ride an electric bike?

In most places, you don’t need a license to ride an e-bike. However, local regulations can vary, so it’s always best to check your area's specific requirements.

Battery and Charging

How long does the battery last on a full charge?

The battery life depends on various factors, including the power setting being used, the terrain, the rider's weight, and the ambient temperature. On average, a fully charged battery can last between 25 to 75 miles.

How do I charge the battery?

To charge the battery, simply connect it to the charger provided with your e-bike. Plug the charger into a standard electrical outlet.

How long does it take to charge the battery fully?

Charging times can vary, but typically it takes between 3 to 6 hours to fully charge an e-bike battery.

Can I ride my electric bike in the rain?

Yes, but with care. Always make sure the charging port is securely covered, and that no electrical components are directly exposed to water.it’s advisable to avoid riding in heavy rain or flood conditions. NEVER submerge the bike in water.

Maintenance and Repairs

How often should I service my electric bike?

Regular maintenance is essential for the longevity of your e-bike. We recommend a service check at least every 6 months or after 1,000 miles, whichever comes first. We also recommend service visits upon noticing any changes in operation of the e-bike.

What should I do if my electric bike isn’t working?

First, check the battery and connections. If the issue persists, consult the user manual for troubleshooting tips or contact our customer support for assistance.

Where can I get my electric bike repaired?

You can take your e-bike to any authorized Ride E-Z service center or local bike shop that handles electric bike repairs.

Usage and Performance

What is the maximum speed of an electric bike?

This is a class 2 e-bike and is limited at 20mph

Can I ride my electric bike on bike paths and trails?

Most bike paths and trails allow electric bikes, but regulations can vary by location.  ALWAYS check local guidelines before riding.

What road laws apply to electric bikes?

Always check and follow local, state, and federal laws and regulations in regards to operating an e-bike on roadways. Never ride on road ways or paths on which bicycles are not allowed. 

Safety and Regulations

What safety gear do I need for riding an electric bike?

Always wear a helmet when operating an e-bike. It is recommended to wear bright or reflective clothing, additional safety pads, and closed toe shoes.

Can I travel with my electric bike on an airplane?

Most airlines have restrictions on lithium-ion batteries. Check with your airline for their specific policies regarding e-bikes.

Can I drive an e-bike after consuming alcohol?

The same regulations surrounding operating any vehicle or heavy machinery also apply to electric bikes. Operating an electric bike while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs can result in injury or death as well as legal repercussions. DO not operate under the influence. 

Operation 

My e-bike won’t turn on. 

Make sure you held the power button long enough, it requires a five second hold to power on. If that does not solve the issue, make sure the bike is charged, make sure the bike is not over heated. If the problem persists contact your dealer or our support line.

The throttle is not making the bike go. 

Make sure your bike is set to at least power setting 1. The throttle will not engage while the bike is in power setting zero.
